Sear’s Pizza: This Shawlands pizza joint is the real deal

Tucked away on Skirving Street lies one of the best recent additions to Shawlands already booming food and drink scene.

Enter Sear’s Pizza. The Shawlands location opening back in December after success in the West End and over in Edinburgh’s Marchmont.

They offer by-the-slice servings as well as full 18″ pizzas. The best bit? You can grab a simple slice of tomato for just £2. Want to upgrade to a margherita? Well, that’ll only be £3, or £3.50 for my personal recomendation of pepperoni.

£3.50 would also get you a mushroom slice or a Sear’s special, which combines vodka sauce with mozzarella and pesto. Feeling boujie? For the grand total of £4 you could treat yourself with a Buffalo Chicken slice.

There’s a range of dips including garlic & herb, ranch and hot honey as well as ‘slice n soda’ deals (£4.90 for a slice and a drink, £7.90 for 2x slice and a drink).

It can get very busy around lunchtime, so head down early or wait until the afternoon but when you do get there you’ll be greeted by friendly staff, some top tunes and freshly made pizza.

The slices themselves are great with plenty of toppings on each slice (trust me, when they say pepperoni, you’re getting pepperoni), crispy crusts and a great base marinara meaning the £2 slice is such a good deal.

For anyone who has ventured over to Edinburgh in the last few years you may think another restaurant (now also open in Glasgow) is the king of the pizza slice.

With the combination of price, quality and service though, I think Sear’s may be coming for Civerinos crown, as much as it may pain me.

Its location is also scarily convenient. Right off the main bus route, and more damagingly for my New Year’s resolutions, right by the Shawlands Pure Gym, Sear’s is worth a drop in if you’re passing, which you likely are at some point soon.
